OBITUARIES Eva Hart dies; survived sinking of the Titanic LONDON (Reuters) Eva Hart, one of the last survivors of the Titanic disaster in 1912, has died at the age of 91 in a London hospice, her family said. Ms. Hart, who for years had recurring nightmares about the tragedy that killed her father, campaigned throughout her life for greater maritime safety and fiercely criticized explorers who took artifacts from the wreck. She was 7 when she accompanied her parents on the maiden voyage of the "unsinkable" liner. She was lifted into a lifeboat by her father, who told her: "Hold Mummy's hand and be a good girl." He was one of the 1,523 passengers and crew who died when the liner went down in the North Atlantic after hitting an iceberg.
Ms. Hart, whose family said she died peacefully in the hospice Wednesday, refused to talk about the disaster for years but finally told her story in an autobiography titled "Shadow of the Titanic." Richard B. Harold Services for Richard B. Harold, 53, a longtime Buffalo resident who was a security officer at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, will be held Monday in Syracuse. CARD OF THANKS 856-5555 employees at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, died there Thursday (Feb. 15, 1996). After suffering a seizure in late 1994, Ms. Moll, 29, was diagnosed with glio blastoma multiform cancer. The disease was already at an advanced stage.
Two surgeries and several rounds of radiation and chemotherapy destroyed the tumor, but cancer cells later turned up in her bone marrow. Last November, in a procedure never before performed on a glio blastoma patient, Roswell Park surgeons implanted bone marrow donated by her sister, Ann Marie Pacer of Lancaster. Ms. Moll, who was featured in a Buffalo News story before the operation, recovered sufficiently to leave the hospital in January but was readmitted after breaking her tailbone in a fall and suffering bouts of nausea and fever. During her arduous treatment, Ms.
Moll, whose motto was, "keep laughing," used her good humor to lift the spirits of many people she touched at Roswell Park. She and Elisabeth Mohr, head of protocols for brain-cancer patients, formed a support group and had T-shirts made that bore the slogan, "Live, Love and Laugh."
